Although the Dodge Ram dates all the way back to the early 1980s, it wasn’t until 1994 that its heavy-duty siblings were first introduced. Then known as the Dodge Ram 2500, the RAM Heavy Duty pickup trucks have now had more than 30 years to develop into the incredible, industry-leading machines that they are today. We’re very proud to make the 2024 RAM 2500 available for sale right here at Jim Glover CDJRF in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The fifth-generation RAM 2500 kicked off back in 2019 and has been going strong ever since. With the upcoming RAM 1500 receiving a mid-generation refresh for 2025, we imagine the 2500 won’t be far behind, but until then there was one small adjustment made for the 2024 model year. All versions of the 2024 RAM 2500 now come standard with a Tailgate Ajar warning lamp that will let you know when you accidentally leave your tailgate open, just like accidentally leaving a door ajar.
The 2024 RAM 2500 is available in two different engine options, with the standard choice being a 6.7L Cummins standard-output turbo diesel engine capable of generating up to 370 horsepower alongside 850 pound-feet of torque. If you want the most power available to you – in fact, the best horsepower output in the class – then you can upgrade to a 6.4L HEMI V8 engine that can deliver 410 horsepower alongside 429 lb-ft. of torque.
How does that translate to how capable the pickup truck is? Your maximum trailering capacity and payload will vary based on many factors, starting with the engine option and including your configuration choices such as drivetrain, cab style and bed length. When it comes to the very best the heavy-duty pickup truck has to offer, you can tow up to 20,000 pounds max and haul up to 4,000 lbs.
There are a bunch of different options to choose from when it comes to purchasing a 2024 RAM 2500 of your own, so be sure to check out the brief breakdowns of each one in the following sections. In addition to choosing a trim level, there are many other configurations to choose from for your RAM 2500. First and foremost you’ll have to choose between 4x2 or 4x4. You can then opt for a regular cab with an 8’ bed, a crew cab with a 6’4” bed, a crew cab with an 8’ bed or the mega cab with a 6’4” bed, which is only available on 4x4.
