2025 Dodge Durango vs. 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

If you’re in the market for a full-size, traditional SUV that offers plenty of space and power, then you’ll be pleased to hear we have two such vehicles available right here at Jim Glover CDJRF! Both the 2025 Dodge Durango and 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L fit the bill, offering bold designs, versatile three-row seating and impressive performance, but which one is the right choice for you? Either option is great, but the right choice is going to depend on your driving habits and priorities, so today we’re going to give you a rundown and comparison to help you come to a decision.

Power & Performance

At its heart, Dodge is a performance brand, and that’s no secret. Despite its size and shape, the Dodge Durango flexes its muscle-car DNA and has plenty of high-performance engine options from which to choose. The standard engine is a 3.6L V6 capable of generating up to 295 horsepower, or you can upgrade to a 5.7L HEMI V8 with 360 hp — or if you’ve really got a lead foot, opt for the Durango Hellcat which features a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 with 710 hp!

By contrast, the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L takes what might be considered a more refined approach. It’s no slouch, by any means, but Jeep has always built vehicles a little more inclined towards off-road adventures rather than track-ready monsters. With that in mind, it only has one powertrain to offer — a 3.6L V6 of its own, this one generating 293 hp. What it lacks in power it makes up for in off-road capabilities, as you’ll have your choice of Quadra-Trac or Quadra-Drive 4x4 systems.

Interior & Comfort

The interior of the Dodge Durango is just as sporty as the exterior, featuring a driver-focused cockpit with plenty of performance-inspired design cues. Some of its features include a flat-bottom steering wheel, paddle shifters and red accents throughout the cabin. Even with all that spotiness, it doesn’t skimp on what’s important, offering a 10.1” Uconnect 5 infotainment system as well as an available 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

Where the Durango leans into performance, the Grand Cherokee L leans into a more premium, luxury experience. With high-quality materials like open-pore wood, premium leather upholstery and even available massaging seats, you’re going to love the cabin of this incredible Jeep. Plus, its third row is more spacious and adult-friendly than a majority of its competitors.

Tech & Safety

Despite being a heavily performance focused vehicle, the Durango does not sacrifice in terms of technologies or safety. We already mentioned that it features a Uconnect 5 infotainment system, which also means it offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and Amazon Alexa integration, and you can even save multiple user profiles. Standard safety features include tech like Blind Spot Monitoring and Advanced Brake Assist with Ready Alert Braking, with even more advanced options being available to add.

It’s a similar story for the 2025 Grand Cherokee L, which offers its own 10.1” Uconnect 5 infotainment system and all the same features, plus available features like a 10.25” digital cluster display, a 10-inch Head-Up Display, a wireless charging pad and even Amazon Fire TV on the rear-seat entertainment system. It offers similar safety features as well, plus some great available add-ons like a Night Vision Camera and Active Driving Assist.

Versatility & Utility

Finally, we would be remiss if we didn’t touch on the versatility and utility of each vehicle’s spacious cabin and cargo area. Both SUVs offer three-row seating with fold-flat configurations and available second-row captain’s chairs. The Durango offers slightly more maximum cargo capacity, though both offer an identical amount of space behind the rear seats, while the Grand Cherokee L offers a bit more space for your passengers to stretch out and get comfortable.

These two vehicles are incredibly similar, but one is geared much more towards sportiness and performance while the other leans into luxury and, of course, offers some off-road capabilities. The choice is ultimately yours, but if you need further help deciding feel free to contact us right here at Jim Glover CDJRF!
