What Makes the 2027 RAM 1500 REV Unique?
Unlike standard battery-electric vehicles that rely solely on plug-in charging stations, the 2027 RAM 1500 REV utilizes an advanced range-extended electric powertrain built on the STLA body-on-frame architecture.
The truck is driven exclusively by electric drive modules (EDMs) attached to the front and rear axles. Underneath the body sits a liquid-cooled 92-kWh battery pack paired with an onboard 130-kW generator. This generator is powered by a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine under the hood. But this engine has absolutely zero connection to the wheels, with its sole purpose instead being to convert fuel into electricity and charge the battery on the move whenever energy reserves run low.
Total Driving Range
Hopefully you now have a better understanding of what makes this truck so innovative. Naturally range has always been one of the biggest question marks around electric vehicles, but with a set up like this you can rely on all-electric driving for the vast majority of daily driving, and then utilize the gasoline engine for long road trips and similar situations.
- All-Electric Range – You’ll have up to 145 miles of range on battery power alone. This enables zero-emission daily commutes, local errands, and job-site travel without using any gasoline at all.
- Total Combined Range – When you need it, however, you’ll benefit from an astounding 690 miles of total combined range by utilizing the 3.6L V6 generator and its 27-gallon fuel tank.
With this new, innovative setup, range anxiety is a thing of the past.
Flexible Charging & Fast Replenishment
Even though the vehicle has this gas-powered generator on board, you can still charge the truck by plugging it into any Level 1 (120V) or 2 (240V) charging station. It can easily be charged overnight by either method, using standard outlets for the former or a dedicated home charging station for the latter. But you can also still benefit from DC public fast charging as well. The RAM 1500 REV will offer 400-volt DC charging capabilities up to 145 kW, allowing you to add up to 50 miles of all-electric range in approximately 10 minutes of charging.
