Every new RAM 1500 available here at Jim Glover CDJRF is packed full of incredible content, both standard and available. One of the coolest available features that you can opt for in certain versions of the truck is the Multi-Function Tailgate, which offers multiple ways to access your bed. Instead of just offering the traditional 180° tailgate, you can choose either to open it down like normal or, instead, swing either side open to the left and right at an 88° angle thanks to a 60/40 split in the tailgate. This is an incredibly practical addition that really opens up the possibilities of your truck’s bed, so we thought we’d highlight 5 practical ways you can use the RAM 1500’s Multi-Function Tailgate so that you know just how versatile the RAM 1500 can be.
A lot of pickup truck owners utilize their truck on the job, traveling to and from worksites and everywhere in between. When you work on the go, you might not always have a surface to work on, but that’s not true with a RAM 1500. You can always drop your Multi-Function Tailgate open the traditional way to transform it into a convenient workbench, with a relatively flat surface for you to set your laptop on, fill out billing forms, do some physical labor, or whatever else you might need.
Thanks to that 60/40 split we mentioned earlier, you can better organize your cargo in your bed to fit around the tailgate. Make sure to load larger items on the left where the 60% side of the tailgate is located, while smaller items should be loaded on the right, 40% side. Then you’ll be able to more easily unload what you need, when you need it.
Another huge benefit of the 60/40 split is that it allows you to get closer to your trailer hitch than ever before, making it even easier to hook up your trailer. It doesn’t get much more practical than utilizing your tailgate to more efficiently and conveniently hook up your trailer.
Perhaps the quintessential way to utilize a tailgate, considering the activity was literally named after it… you can of course use your Multi-Function Tailgate for tailgating and other parties. Heading to the big football game this weekend? Take your RAM 1500 along and drop the tailgate the traditional way to create a surface for storing coolers or whatever else you need to bring along to the party.
Finally, and this one goes hand in hand with the second option on our list, but the 60/40 split makes it easier to both load and unload objects than any previous RAM 1500 that didn’t come equipped with the Multi-Function Tailgate. Not only does it allow you to access the side of the bed that you want, but you can get closer to the actual bed as the tailgate is no longer in your way, making it easier to both load and unload the truck.
In addition to the incredible Multi-Function Tailgate, another new feature added to the 2025 RAM 1500 is the option to make your tailgate powered, allowing you to open and close the tailgate with the push of a button on your keyfob. It even includes obstacle detection, so that it won’t open or close on something like an item left on the tailgate, or anyone’s finger! If you have any questions about the 2024 or 2025 RAM 1500, or any other version of the pickup truck for that matter, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us right here at Jim Glover CDJRF. We look forward to hearing from you!
