How to Activate Power-Folding Mirrors on a 2025 RAM HD

Published on Jul 19, 2025 by Jim Glover Creative Team

There are often all kinds of features in our vehicles that we don’t know how to use or possibly don’t even know exist. If you’ve ever noticed a button in your vehicle and thought to yourself, “hm, what’s this do?” You’re not alone! If you own a 2025 RAM HD, either the 2500 or 3500, you might be aware of the fact that it has power-folding mirrors, but that doesn’t mean you know how to activate them.

Whether you’re squeezing into a tight garage, navigating a narrow drive-thru or simply want to be respectful in your parking spot, the ability to power-fold your mirrors protects them from accidental damage, so it’s crucial to learn how to use this great feature. That’s what we’re here to teach you today, so that you can feel better about your truck’s safety wherever you’re going or leaving it.

What Are Power-Folding Mirrors?

While the name is fairly self-explanatory, we thought it’d be a good idea to at least briefly explain what power-folding mirrors are and how they work. These are your side mirrors that let you see behind your vehicle on both the left and right sides, but they have the technology to be retracted and extended with the touch of a button. As mentioned, this allows you to fit into smaller spots or just reduce the amount of space you take up in a spot. While they’re not a standard feature on every trim level of the RAM HD models, they are available in some trims and can be added in certain packages.

Step-by-Step Guide to Activating Power-Folding Mirrors

Activating your powerfolding mirrors, either to retract or extend, is very easy once you know what you’re doing. All you have to do is locate the mirror control switch, make sure your truck is in accessory or run mode, and then press the button. Here a little more description so that you can really figure out how it works:

  • Locate the Mirror Control Switch
    • Typically found on the driver’s side door panel, right above the window switches, you’ll see a round directional pad for mirror adjustments. This pad is usually flanked by left/right selector buttons and a fold button, the latter of which is what we’re looking for.
  • Accessory or Run Mode
    • You don’t have to turn the vehicle all the way on to fold your mirrors in or out, but the ignition does need to be in accessory or run mode. All you have to do to get there is press your push-start button once or twice without pressing the brake.
  • Press the Fold Button
    • With the truck’s electronics active, you can press the small fold mirror button we found earlier and the mirrors will automatically retract inward or extend back out to their usual position.

What If Power-Folding Isn’t Working?

There are few things more frustrating than something not work the way it’s supposed to, so if you’ve followed our steps but your mirrors still aren’t folding, here are some troubleshooting tips that you should double check before anything else:

  • Double check that your truck is actually in either Accessory or Run mode
  • Make sure you’re actually pressing the correct fold button
  • Ensure that the mirrors aren’t being physically obstructed by something like ice or snow
  • Lastly, make sure that your trim level actually has power-folding mirrors

If you’re still stuck, our expert technicians here at Jim Glover CDJRF would be happy to help diagnose the issue. It’s possible that a fuse, motor, or software setting isn’t working properly. Just schedule an appointment and bring it in! If you have any questions about your power-folding mirrors or how they work, you can also feel free to give us a call, as we’d be happy to help.
