Over the past few years Jeep has begun to dabble in electrification much like the rest of the industry. While they’ve been slow to introduce a fully electric vehicle, they have added 4xe trim levels to a few vehicles in the lineup. 4xe is essentially a sub-brand of the Jeep brand, which currently consists of three different models. The Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee each have their own 4xe trim levels, and this year Jeep did introduce its first all-electric vehicle in the form of the Jeep Wagoneer S. Today we wanted to answer two of the most asked questions we get in regards to these 4xe models. A lot of customers are interested in knowing what their electric driving ranges are as well as their towing capacities, so let’s dive into it.
The Jeep Wrangler is not only the most recognizable vehicle on the brand’s lineup, it’s one of the most iconic vehicles ever built throughout the industry. Renowned for its off-road capabilities and open air freedom, the Wrangler is a legendary vehicle. A lot of fans and enthusiasts get wary when it comes to change in their favorite vehicles, and that has certainly been the case historically when it comes to electrification, but the 4xe models have given customers a great taste of what’s possible, and the reaction has been great.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is now available and it continues to build onto its burgeoning legacy. When it comes to its electrified nature, the vehicle achieves an estimated MPGe of 49 and can travel up to 370 miles with a full charge and full tank of gas, which includes 21 miles of all-electric range. As for towing capacity, the 2025 Wrangler 4xe is able to trailer up to 3,500 pounds regardless of which trim you choose.
While the Jeep Grand Cherokee might not have quite the same reputation the Wrangler does, it has earned plenty of its own laurels and accolades. Having now been around more than three decades, it has built its own name and legacy throughout the generations. Now firmly in its fifth generation, the 4xe trim level was added for the 2022 model year.
Now a few years in, it has established itself as a great option in the midsize crossover PHEV segment. The vehicle manages to achieve 25 miles of all-electric driving range and 56 MPGe. With a full charge and a full tank of gas, the Grand Cherokee 4xe can travel a total of 470 miles, making it the better and more efficient choice between the two. When it comes to towing, the Grand Cherokee 4xe can haul up to 6,000 pounds lbs. trailering
If you’re looking to get something fully electric, you can finally do so with the Jeep brand thanks to the introduction of the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S, sometimes called the Wagoneer S 4xe even though it’s not a PHEV like its siblings. Based on the traditional Jeep Wagoneer, the Wagoneer S is a full-size luxury SUV with an all-electric powertrain. It achieves 600 horsepower alongside 617 pound-feet of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds – which makes it the quickest Jeep vehicle ever built. On a full charge the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S is capable of traveling up to just over 300 miles, and it can trailer up to 3,400 lbs.
If you’re interested in getting in on the ground floor of electrification, you should definitely consider one of these plug-in hybrid or all-electric vehicles.
