What do we know so far about the all-electric Dodge Charger & Challenger models?

Published on Sep 16, 2024 by Jim Glover Creative Team

Not too long ago, Dodge made the decision to sunset their iconic muscle cars the Charger & Challenger. While both models have been incredibly successful and popular for the brand throughout their many different iterations, the widespread shift to electrification across the industry doesn’t leave much space for gas-guzzling, high-performance vehicles like these two. However, Dodge did promise that this wouldn’t be the actual end for the two legendary nameplates, just the end of them in their current iterations. Instead, both will return in the form of all-electric vehicles sometime in the future, so we’re here to speculate about their release.

In other words, what do we know so far about the all-electric Dodge Charger & Challenger models? The short answer is very little about the Challenger, and quite a bit about the Dodge Charger. But let’s dive into a bit more detail than that, starting with the Challenger as there’s less to talk about and then heading into the Charger.

Will there be a Dodge Challenger EV?

Executives within the Dodge division of Stellantis have gone on record saying that the Dodge Challenger will return as an electric vehicle, so we know that there will eventually be a Dodge Challenger EV unless plans drastically change for some reason or another. Beyond that, we know very little about the Dodge Challenger. The last official news relating to the Dodge Challenger was released back in August of 2023, regarding the ownership experience of the incredible SRT Demon 170 version of the Dodge Challenger. As soon as any information is revealed about an all-electric Challenger, we’ll be sure to fill you in right here on the Jim Glover CDJRF website, so check back whenever you can.

2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Release Date

As for the Dodge Charger, we know quite a bit more about its electric future as the world’s very first – and so far only – electric muscle car has been revealed. Back in March of 2024, the automaker unveiled the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona. The incredible electric muscle car will be able to deliver up to 670 horsepower and accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.3 seconds, meaning the Charger will retain its titles as both the quickest and most powerful muscle car in the world.

When the vehicle launches it will be available as either the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack or the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T, both of which entered production sometime this summer and will be available before the end of the year. These two models are two-door coupes and they will be followed up by four-door variants, with production scheduled to start sometime in the first quarter of 2025.

In addition, two plug-in hybrid models featuring combustion engines will enter production around the same time. These models will feature 3.0L twin-turbocharged I-6 Hurricane engines and be called Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O and SIXPACK S.O., offering 550 and 420 horsepower respectively. The SIXPACK H.O. will have two doors while the S.O. will have four.

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is already shaping up to be an absolutely incredible machine, and if the eventual Dodge Challenger EV follows a similar blueprint, we’re sure it will be even more mind blowing than this. If you’d like to learn more about the incredible electric versions of the Dodge Charger and Challenger models, feel free to give us a call here at the sales desk. We look forward to hearing from you!
