The Jeep brand is not new to electrification. The 4xe models, for example, were incredibly popular variants of their respective nameplates. But now Jeep is introducing its first-ever true battery electric vehicle, the Jeep Recon EV. We started talking about this model all the way back in March of 2025 when rumors started to truly ramp up, then it was officially unveiled in November. We have plenty of blogs with early information and speculation about the model, but today we want to dive into some of the facts regarding what we know so far.
All-Electric Power & Performance
Let’s start by analyzing the Jeep Recon’s all-electric powertrain. Rather than being powered by a conventional engine like most Jeep models, the Recon utilizes dual electric drive modules to distribute massive power across a standard four-wheel drive system. Here are a few of its confirmed technical specs where power and performance are concerned:
- Horsepower. Up to 650 hp
- Torque. 620 pound-feet; delivered instantly
- Acceleration. 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds; in Sport Mode
- Battery Pack. 100-kWh, 400-volt
- Estimated Driving Range. 230 miles
Charging Solutions & Speeds
You’ll have a variety of options for charging available to you when purchasing a Jeep Recon. The EV comes with a convenient, dual-level combination cord that allows you to charge on any household outlet. This enables you to let the vehicle charge overnight so that it’s ready for your daily commute come morning. But when you need more range quickly, you’ll be able to benefit from DC public fast charging as well!
- DC Fast Charging. Powers the battery from 20% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes.
- Quick Range Boost. Adds roughly 100 miles of driving range in just 10 minutes at a DC fast charger.
- Level 2 Home Charging. Reaches an 80% charge in under 7 hours using a 240-volt Level 2 connection.
Trail Rated Off-Road Capability
The Jeep Recon is the first and only fully-electric utility vehicle to earn a Trail Rated badge. Earning this badge requires undergoing a battery of tests that analyze five different aspects of off-road capabilities. This proves that the Recon is building off the DNA well established by the Jeep brand, and in particular the Jeep Wrangler. Here are some of its off-road specs and features:
- Ground Clearance. 9.1 inches
- Water Fording. 24 inches
- Trail Angles. Offers a 34-degree approach angle, 23.5-degree breakover angle, and 34.5-degree departure angle
- Underbody Protection. High-strength steel skid plates
- Selec-Terrain System. Driver-selectable driving modes include Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and Rock
- Axle Technology. Electronic locking differential
Open-Air Design & Utility
The Jeep Recon undoubtedly takes inspiration from the Wrangler and Gladiator, but this is made even more obvious when you realize it offers open-air freedom just like its two siblings. Upon release, it will be the only fully electric SUV to offer these removable components.
- Removable Elements. Doors, rear-quarter glass, swing gate glass
- Roof Options. Standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof or available Sky One-Touch Powertop
- Tires. Standard 33-inch Nexen Roadian ATX tires on 18-inch wheels
- Towing Capacity. 3,300 pounds with Trailer Tow Group package
